Day gecko Female (0.1)
Phelsuma grandis is the well-known Madagascar giant day gecko, one of the largest and most impressive lizards of the genus Phelsuma.
Description (female Phelsuma grandis)
Size: Females ~22–25 cm (males can reach up to 30 cm).
Body: Long, slender, with large sticky digital pads for climbing.
Coloration: Vivid green body, often with red–orange spots on the back and a line from the snout to the eyes. The belly is lighter, yellowish to whitish.
Behavior: It has diurnal activity (day gecko), active and quite territorial. The female is usually less aggressive than the male, but can become nervous if stressed. It is not a “pet to handle”, touch is avoided because their skin is very sensitive.
Terrarium size: Vertical, at least 60x60x90 cm for a pair, a single female can be kept in a smaller one (e.g. 45x45x60cm).
Substrate: Organic (coconut fiber, sphagnum moss, leaves), which retains moisture.
Decoration: Branches, bamboo, cork and many plants (natural or plastic) for climbing and hiding places. Vertical setup is essential.
                                                                                    ...More

Day: 26–28 °C, with basking spot 30–32 °C.
Night: 20–22 °C.
Lighting:
Necessary UVB lighting (5.0 or 10.0 depending on the height of the terrarium) for vitamin D3 synthesis and proper calcium metabolism.
Photoperiod: ~12 hours light / 12 hours dark.
Humidity:
60–80% with regular spraying (1–2 times a day). Good air circulation is needed to avoid mold.
Diet:
Insects: Crickets, Dubia cockroaches, grasshoppers, silkworms (always sprinkled with calcium + vitamins).
Fruit creams / Nectar: ??Specialized gecko foods (e.g. Repashy, Pangea) based on fruit and honey.
They should not be held frequently in the hand because their skin is very thin and can be injured.
Females may fight if housed together, monitoring is required.
If paired with a male, the female will produce eggs, which often stick to surfaces.
