• Size and Lifespan: Adults reach 5–10 inches in length and weigh 1–3 pounds. They live 40 to 50+ years with proper care.
• Housing / Enclosure:
• Indoor setups require a minimum size of roughly 36x24 inches or a 50-to-75 gallon container with deep substrate (4–6 inches of topsoil/sand mix) for burrowing.
• Basking spot temperature should be 90–95°F (32–35°F), with a cool side around 65–75°F (18–24°F) and low ambient humidity (40–60%).
